Things to keep in mind for international travel…

  • Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your return date. If it expires before November 2027, renew it now.

If you don't yet have a passport, or yours is expiring soon, apply as early as possible. Standard US processing currently takes 10–13 weeks; expedited service takes 6–8 weeks. Don't leave this until the last minute!

    • Apply or renew at travel.state.gov

    • Store a photo of your passport in your email or cloud storage (Google Photos, iCloud) as a backup

    • At the airport, keep your passport on your person, not in checked luggage!

  • US citizens do not currently need to apply for a visa to enter Spain for stays under 90 days. Currently, you can enter with your US passport alone.

That being said, ETIAS, the EU's new travel authorization (similar to the US ESTA for visiting the US) is expected to launch before our wedding date. It will be a quick online application costing around €7. We'll update this page as soon as it's confirmed. Check etias.com for the latest details.

  • The best way to get around Mallorca is with a rental car. Rental car companies will absolutely try to upsell you on insurance so double check if your credit card has insurance coverage already! If you decline their coverage, they will hold a very large amount (~$700) on your credit card as collateral that gets refunded if you return the car in the same way that you received it. It is an annoying scare tactic to convince you to buy their insurance which comes with a smaller collateral amount. Always take a video of the entire rental car before driving away.

If you plan to rent a car in Spain, you are legally required to carry an International Driving Permit (IDP) alongside your US driver's license. Car rental companies may refuse your booking without one.

An IDP is an official translation of your license recognized in over 150 countries. In the US, it can only be issued by the AAA and you cannot get one online or after you've left the country.

    • Visit your nearest AAA branch, no membership required. Cost is approximately $20

    • Bring your valid US driver's license and two passport-sized photos. They can also take your picture onsite for a fee

    • Its valid for one year from the date of issue

    • Always carry both your IDP and your original US license when driving in Spain

  • We strongly recommend setting up an eSIM before you leave home rather than relying on your US carrier's international roaming plan, which can be expensive. An eSIM is a digital SIM you download directly to your phone, no physical card needed, and you keep your US number active at the same time.

We recommend Airalo but there are plenty of options to choose from!

We also recommend downloading WhatsApp as that will be the main communication platform for the week. Our planning team will set up a chat for the for last minute questions or support needs.

  • Our favorite plug adaptor is THIS ONE

The voltage in Spain (220–240V) is double that of the US (110–120V). Plugging a US device directly into a Spanish outlet without checking its compatibility can damage or destroy it.

Most modern devices (laptops, phone chargers, camera chargers) are dual-voltage. Look for "100–240V" printed on the charger. These only need a plug adapter, not a converter.

Travel & Accommodations

  • The airport code for Palma (Capital of Mallorca) is PMI. It is about 40 minutes driving to Santanyí, the closest town to our wedding location.

United Airlines offers direct flights to Palma from Newark Airport.

United flies year-round from Newark to Barcelona (BCN), and American, Delta, and Iberia all serve BCN from multiple US cities. Vueling, Ryan Air, and Air Europa then connect BCN to PMI in about 50 minutes with very high frequency. This is great option if you want to spend a day or two in Barcelona before or after the wedding. There is also a 3.5 hour ferry from Barcelona to Palma Port.

Madrid (MAD) is the main transatlantic gateway. Iberia, United, American, and Delta all fly to Madrid from US Cities, and then Iberia, Air Europa, and Ryanair connect MAD to PMI in 1h 30m. This is best for guests traveling from Miami, LA, Chicago, or Washington DC. Allow at least a 2-hour layover in Madrid as customs and terminal transfers can take time.

  • Our wedding venue has very limited guest parking so we’re happy to offer a shuttle service to and from the venue from Palma, Santanyí, and Cala d’Or. We strongly encourage you to use the shuttle versus opting to drive to the venue.

If you need to drive to the wedding, please message us so we can alert our planning team to make sure we can accommodate you.

  • Palma is the place to stay if you’re looking for a bit more excitement. It has beautiful architecture, restaurants, nightlife, and great shopping. Additionally, its a great option if you don’t want to rent a car and prefer more of a city experience. We will have a shuttle pickup near the Palma Cathedral for the the wedding.

We’re still negotiating hotel blocks but these are our recommended hotels.

    Nakar Hotel
    Hotel Can Cera
    Hotel Palladium

  • Santanyi is a charming and quiet medieval village that has a really beautiful open-air market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The village itself is quaint, and is closest to our wedding venue. We will also have a shuttle pick up from here.

    Our hotel recommendations are:

    Hotel Can Ferrereta

    S’Hotelet de Santanyí

You can also stay at an AirBNB nearby, and catch the shuttle to the wedding from Santanyí, if you prefer to stay outside of the village.

  • Cala d'Or has a relaxed but lively nightlife focused around the marina and town centre; cocktail bars, live music venues, and stylish lounges rather than large nightclubs, making it ideal for evening drinks and dinners by the sea. Overall it has a quieter, more upmarket feel than the resorts around Palma. This is a good fit for guests who want beautiful beaches and a relaxed Mediterranean pace. We will have a shuttle pickup from central Cala d’Or as well.

    Our Hotel Recommendations:

    Barceló Ponent Beach

Alua Soul Cala d’Or (Adults Only)

    Eques Petit Resort
